Gutter Marketing Pros

Questions gutter company owners ask about marketing

Straight answers on reviews, Google Ads against the national guard brands, seasonality, websites, roofer referrals, the benchmark data and the free 14-day trial.

How many Google reviews does a gutter company need?

More than the two or three companies you appear beside. Across 7,807 gutter listings the median is 6 and 59.6% have fewer than ten, so the bar is genuinely low at the bottom. The map pack is a different story: winners in a competitive metro usually sit near the 90th percentile of 87 reviews, a level only 9% of the trade reaches. Target one review per crew day. The reviews guide has the door script.

Can I compete with LeafFilter and the other national guard brands on Google Ads?

Not on their terms, and you should not try. National guard advertisers run financed six-thousand-dollar tickets and can pay $40 or more per click on "gutter guard" terms. You win on the words they ignore: gutter cleaning by neighborhood, seamless gutter replacement, fascia and downspout repair, and brand terms for the guard products you actually install. The Google Ads guide has the negative keyword list.

What should a gutter lead cost me?

In most US metros, $25 to $70 per lead for cleaning work and $70 to $180 for replacement or guard consultations, on Google Ads. Cleaning leads are cheap and low-ticket; installation leads are expensive and worth it. If you buy them in one campaign with one budget, the cheap cleaning clicks will eat the whole thing by noon and you will never see an installation quote.

When are the busy seasons and what do I do in between?

Two peaks: leaf drop from late September through November, and the spring rain and pollen window from March into May. Storms create a third, unpredictable one. The dead months are January, February, July and August. That is when you sell guard installations to the customers you cleaned for in the fall, run roof-and-gutter packages with a roofing partner, and build the review count. See the slow season plan.

Do I really need a website if I have a Google profile?

Yes. 37.9% of gutter companies have no site, and companies with one show a median of 11 reviews against 2 without. The site is where a homeowner comparing you to a $6,000 guard quote decides you are real, where separate cleaning, repair, installation and guard pages can rank, and where AI answer engines get text to quote. Details in the website guide.

Are before-and-after photos worth the trouble?

They are the highest-return five minutes of any job in this trade. Clogged trough packed with shingle grit next to the same trough clean and flowing beats any headline you could write. A cheap drone adds the roofline shot that sells seamless replacement, because the homeowner has never seen their own fascia. Post them to the Google profile weekly and use them as ad creative.

Should I be running Facebook and Instagram ads?

For cleaning, yes, with a dated seasonal offer to homeowners in specific zip codes. For guards and replacement, Meta works as the top of a longer sale: a before-and-after video, then a retargeting ad to everyone who watched half of it. Expect $8 to $35 per lead for cleaning offers. The Meta ads guide covers the creative.

How do roofer partnerships actually work?

A roofer replacing a roof almost always disturbs the gutters and rarely wants to run the gutter line himself. You give him a flat referral fee or a per-foot subcontract rate, a same-week response promise, and photos he can send his own customer. Two active roofing partners can carry a crew through January. Do not ask for the referral until you have done one job flawlessly for him.

How do I show up when someone asks ChatGPT for a gutter company?

The answer engines lean on the same signals Google does plus plain readable text. A complete profile, one consistent name and address everywhere, service and city pages written in normal sentences, reviews that name the actual job, and a few mentions on local sites. The AI search guide walks through it.

How reliable is the benchmark data?

It is public data collected at scale, so read it as accurate to within a point or two, not to the decimal. Listings are deduplicated by Google place ID and refreshed monthly. The set spans 51 states. Google does not publish this, which is why we do. Method is on the about page.

Where exactly does the benchmark data come from?

Google Maps searches for gutter cleaning and gutter service companies in every state. We keep only public business fields: review count, rating, linked website, listed hours, category and location. No reviewer names, no personal data, nothing behind a login. See the full benchmark report.

What is included in the free 14-day trial?

Any one of the services we run, or several at once: Google Ads management, Meta ads, AI search optimization, local SEO and Google Business Profile work, website design, social media management, review generation, missed-call text-back and follow-up, email and SMS campaigns, bookkeeping, and cold-call appointment setting. Setup, management and reporting are included. Ad spend you choose to pay Google or Meta is yours.

What happens after the 14 days?

You decide. Keep the service at the monthly price quoted before the trial began, switch to a different one, or stop. Nothing renews by itself, nothing is charged during the trial, and there is no cancellation step because there is nothing to cancel.

Do I have to put a card down?

No. There is no card on file at any point during the trial. What we ask for is access to the accounts involved and about 20 minutes on a setup call. Start on the free trial page or text (385) 832-6175.
